provider, we were an early adopter of online document versioning and
personalization. This enables our clients to go onto their own
branded and secure web portal and make changes to templated
documents at their leisure, using only a standard web browser. The
system is accessible to registered users 24/7 from anywhere in the
world.
The end product or ‘deliverable’ can be either a
printed piece (a mailer, letter, brochure or post card, meeting
invitation, stationery, etc.), or it can be a PDF file. This is
often versioned (many of one), where the client has input some
information online and perhaps uploaded some images. It can also be
variable (each one different), where the client has uploaded a data
file to the system. As the system generates PDF files on the fly
based the information received, some clients utilize the PDF as
their deliverable.
Besides images and text, versioned or personalized
charts and graphs are another one of the features that are available
though Starnet Media Group's online e-commerce solution.
In the
example of national versus individual comparisons the national data
would either be:
A: pre-programmed into the template. A user would then
securely enter specific data and be presented with a document
incorporating a comparative chart. This document might also have
descriptive text and images in a defined layout.
B: The user could alternatively upload a larger collection
of data (e.g. an Excel spreadsheet) and generate a fully
personalized mailing to his or her clients/prospects. Tags can be
added to the data file to select other parameters such as language,
images, etc.
Customized solutions can usually readily be provided
based on a client's specific needs.
